My uh house?

I thought I would post some pictures of my house. I'll give a short tour with pictures.

Also be glad I didn't post the picture of the "new" unbroken pipes leading from the bathroom to the septic tank. The roof is good though!

A slow boring day

Not much happening here at the shop today. Only a few customers and 2 groom dogs. Barely even any phone calls. Even the telemarketers were quiet. The sun is finally out and making everyone sleepy.

And no, I didn't ask them to jump onto my grooming table.

The Best house or the Worst house?

My house is either the best house ever, or the worst. Its the best because it sits in such a beautiful setting, with no neighbors. It has beautiful views and huge, gorgeous trees. The land is great for sheep. My dogs absolutely love it there. They are happier there than I've seen them in a long time. Just wait till I get some sheep! They'll think they're in doggie heaven.
But, my house is the worst house because of all the things wrong with it that need to be redone. Meaning the whole house is basically being rebuilt from the inside out. We've now taken out all the walls, including framing, except for the bearing wall frame. We've taken out all the floors down to the floor joists. We have taken out the whole kitchen and bathroom. Including all pipes and plumbing. It's basically one big open pit..LOL 
The other day we found out the toilet plumbing had been partially draining just outside the house from a hole in the pipe. The cesspool or septic tank, we're not sure which it is, and I've had both and I can't even tell, needs to be pumped and checked before we can install new plumbing. I now know what the total inside and  underneath of my house looks like. We've started the new framing and most of the new subflooring is in. Carl's Dad is flying in from Ca to redo all the electrical and replace the old fuse boxes with a new breaker box. The front and back of the house is now piled high with debris from the old flooring, drywall, cabinets, bathtub, toilet etc. Lots of burning and trips to the dump to be done. Every weekend we go out to work on the house it snows. So I have to wear long underwear and lots of socks and coats in order to work.
I know it will all get done. But its going to take a long time. 

It will be worth it though..

Mike Update

Well, after 4 days in hospital, Mike is finally getting better. Interesting timing as I was reading on the sheepdog-L group about auto-immune conditions and indications are that is Mike's problem. He had a fever of 105 for 3 days with no discernable change even on antibiotics. After testing for fungal infections and tick born diseases he was started on doxy and prednisone yesterday and had an almost immediate positive response. He will stay at the vet for 1 or 2 more days to make sure he is recovering well, then I can bring him home. We sure do miss him. It is interesting, albeit kind of sad, to see the change in pack dynamics. The dogs are acting differently when we take them out to play and run around. Most interesting to me is the fact that Crue seems to be in charge. He's almost a year now, so not so much a puppy anymore yet not one of the other dogs will stand up to him. He's not aggressive or anything, but he does continue to take toys from the other dogs without them putting up any kind of fight. Even Meg, who nobody crosses, was unable to take the bottle of ice from Crue when I told her to. She tried but he would just run off smiling with his tail in the air. She finally just gave me the look and I knew even she felt Crue had won. There is no animosity at all, just nobody wants to keep anything they have if Crue wants it and nobody can take anything away from Crue. Except me of course. Anyway, as Mike kept me entertained when Seth was sick in the hosp last year, Crue is taking over this year while Mike is in the hosp. I had a nice long (25 min) talk with the young vet at the hosp where Mike is. We actually talked about a lot of things besides Mike and in talking about Seth's stay last year he commented on Feb being a bad month for me with my dogs having to be hospitalized as its been 1 year since I almost lost Seth to toy injestion. I told him to give me a standing appointment for next Feb for one of my dogs. I hope it is just a joke though. Anyway, I'm feeling much better about Mike and I hope he makes a full recovery and lives a very long life free of any more illness. Now I have to book a lot of dogs to pay for his vet bill! So much for fixing up my house! And just to keep it interesting, here is a pic of Mike a few years back working sheep in the desert.

Mikie is sick :(

Mike is in the hospital probably pancreatitis again. He is a very sick boy. His temp was 105 and he had bloody diahrrea. It came on very suddenly just like the last time he had it a couple years ago. I don't think he got into anything, but with 6 dogs it is very hard to watch them every second they are out. Please keep him in your thoughts for a full recovery. I hate when one of my dogs is sick.
