While cleaning the dog kennels a couple weeks ago (their spring cleaning after the cold winter,) I was taking out the blankets that were sitting on top of their dog houses when I noticed, well not so much noticed as panicked when a bunch of bumblebees came after me. I had already pulled two out and they were in the blanket under those. Needless to say, I left the last blanket there. Their nest is still there and as bumblebees are a gardeners best friend, they can stay as long as they like. They don't bother us except to check us out if we get to close. The dogs don't mind them at all. They will fly out and hover around us then leave if we are not deemed a threat. Very interesting but poorly chosen nesting spot.
How they have a nest in this I have no idea, but they are in there.
I know because I shook the blanket a little bit and this bee flew out.
So my dog's kennel has now become a bee nursery. Fine with me as it is right by my garden :)
