The Bluegrass

This was my second time going to watch the Bluegrass Classic. The first time, 2 years ago, I went not only to watch, but to pick up my new puppy, Crue. This year I went not only to watch, but to drop off a puppy, Ford, to his owner, Jenny. Maybe next time I will go to be IN the trial.
Anyway, we  had a good time and Crue's daddy got the reserve CH win so that was icing on the cake. I forgot to take pictures due to catching up on all the latest and reminiscing with Jenny all day, but Jillian got some nice pics of Scott's run with Don. Of course most of the pics she took were of Scott and not Don. I'm going to have to educate her on the importance of getting the "dog" in the picture too.
We also had a couple quick storms roll through which put a halt to things for a bit, but it cooled off the temps and that was good.

Sheep and goats

Rigged up a small area for the sheep and goats to graze around in till I can get the property fenced. I took Seth with me when I went to pick up the ram lambs. The owner was 82 yrs old and said it might take him a while to get the lambs sorted out. My friend who talked to him said "no problem, my friend (me) has a dog"   LOL This flock hasn't been worked with a dog before and there was a mixture of about 20 sheep and goats running together in an open field of about 5 acres with a small barn in the middle. Seth went and got the sheep and goats and brought them to me. The man then asked if I could separate the goats and sheep. No problem they were almost split apart anyway so I just had to call Seth in and turn him onto the sheep. Then one ewe challenged him but got told not to do that. Then they all decided to go around the barn instead of into the open stall door where we wanted them.  A few broke off and stupidly I told Seth to lie down till I could decide how to handle it.  A ewe who was off to the side and not noticed by me or Seth ran up and rolled Seth. Good thing he was lying down. He had a little "talk" with her and she returned to the group and they all went into the stall. I shut the door then pushed them into the rear stall and had Seth hold them there so I could sort off the ram lambs from the rest. These were only 5 week old lambs and I really didn't like taking them so young, but the man would've sold them to someone else if we hadn't taken them. These lambs are so heavy and big boned I could barely hold on. But I managed to catch both and we put them into crates in my friend's van. The entire process took about 10 minutes. I love Seth.
The lambs have settled in just fine.

New ram, sheep home

Finally got the sheep and goats moved to my house. They are in a temporary pen till I can get my fencing up. I also got a nice ram lamb. Weather was too bad to take any good pictures, but here is the pen and the ram lambs. The lamb on the right is mine, the other went to a friend.

Renters

A new family has moved into our small rental space. I'm not sure how long they will last as that rental space isn't up to code and the family may have to move on shortly due to dangerous conditions.
The parents have 3 kids.

The view is good and the landscaping is really pretty but...

I really don't think it is the place for them. Its a ground floor apartment and they may find the heavy traffic a bit disruptive for their newborns.

Mom can be seen here on the top of the tree surveying the neighborhood.

I'm going to try to keep the noise down and the dogs away and close the gate as little as possible and hopefully the little family can grow and move on.

growing up!

My guinea keets are growing by leaps and bounds. They were very small when I got them and I kept them at a friends house. She bought 10 and I bought 10. They were this small when I moved them to my house almost 1 month ago.

Now they look like this!

They are Jumbo Pearl guineas so they will get bigger even. I'm hoping because they are the bigger variety maybe they won't be able to fly as well as the smaller ones and may stay put. I haven't let them out yet for fear of not being able to get them back. My property isn't fenced yet and if they take off in the woods I'll never find them. Incentive to get going on fencing!
