eggses!

My basement chickens have started laying! Their coop at my house is almost finished after 5 mos or so.Yeah we're slow, what can I say? But since I am surrounded by woods there are lots of critters that would just love a chicken dinner and I am very partial to my chickens and don't want them to end up as an entree. So we're building a chicken coop that will be almost as secure as Fort Knox!
Seth is also partial to "his" chickens and hangs out with them as often as possible. He likes eggs too so he doesn't want anything to happen to them.

They are very proud of their new skill and they are cackling down there (in the basement) all the time now. I have to keep the door closed so my customers don't hear. I'm not sure what they'd think of chickens in my basement.

And they have a lot to be proud of! I've gotten 7 eggs in the past 4 days already and there are 6 pullets. So they are off to a really great start on their career!

They seem to like the bright pink cat litter box/nesting box that my shop provided them with. But they do need more space and will be moving out of the basement this weekend to their new deluxe accomodations. I'm sure they'll appreciate the ample space. But I will miss them in the basement.
